The global educational system is in deep crisis: the rise of social media and internet consumption has led to a severe decline in teachers worldwide.
It is believed social media content creators have been popularised by politicians.
One day some of the youth think they may strip to get views and likes on social media to monetise their page.
Another day they realise all of a sudden, when it is almost too late, that it was a parody: The youth have never been told that one must be trained from the likes of CentraleSupélec to appear desirable and charming on the employment market.
Arguably, only a career with great job security offers financial benefits and may also help ensure that you will be able to maintain your lifestyle over time.
As a reminder, CentraleSupélec is the only French establishment in the world’s Top 20 of the 2025 ranking of the best higher education institutions. CentraleSupélec was placed 20th on the league table. It is a leading engineering school that combines academic rigor and practical expertise to train the responsible leaders of tomorrow.
Sadly, in a time of global economic turmoil, the reality is that only a secure job can guarantee shelter, and good health. Only a great job offers you the assurance and security that you and your household (if you have one or want a family) require, especially now that the back-to-school budget for essential supplies has skyrocketed due to US Tariffs.
Latest statistics regarding the percentage of children using social media raises serious concerns: On September 8th 2025, Research shows that “95% of youth ages 13 to 17 report using social media and that ‘11- and 12-year-olds use social media despite the platforms’ age restrictions, and many show signs of addiction to social media.”
“It’s near ubiquitous,” noted Dr. Jason Nagata, a pediatrician at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco and co-author of numerous social media studies.

On the 22nd June 2025 According to Research from the University of Michigan: “an estimated 210 million people worldwide suffer from addiction to social media and the internet […] contributing to an alarming daily average of 8 hours and 39 minutes spent online.”
This is concerning as neurologically, the aforementioned age bracket is associated to or aligned with developing the key stepping stones of building the foundations of educational knowledge.
Did You know?
Education is in a state of emergency since the rise of social media. Latest researches concluded that students drop out rate of school and university is influenced by social media.
On 8th April 2025, The Global report on teachers from The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) reveals “An urgent need for 44 million primary and secondary teachers worldwide by 2030. This includes a demand for seven out of ten teachers at the secondary level and a need to replace over half of the existing teachers leaving the profession”.
There is another view: parents worldwide, are the only responsible people of their children’s addiction to social media. Some parents have been failing their children because not only they cannot monitor their excessive social media usage, but also because they themselves have become addicted to excessive social media usage.
They continuously and excessively overshare pictures and videos of their babies and toddlers online, either to share their success, their happiness, or to monetise their content in order to secure a future for their family nest.
Some parents have been trying so hard to earn a living via their online content. Some parents have genuinely believed in some politicians who once popularised content creators as a secure job but only to find out that (AI) is preventing them from making as much money as previously planned with their content.

Our editorial is fully aware that it takes guts, dedication, a draconian discipline and hardwork to go to school, to university, to train as a professional athlete, actor, beautician, barber, song writer, entrepreneur, comedian, chef…
If humanity remains at the heart of The Bridge Magazine’s editorial, it also means that we are aware Mankind is not perfect. In order to thrive, we must not dwell on political/ parental mistakes: but rather, focus on solutions.
This solution-oriented approach enables us to see beyond bridges, beyond social fractures, beyond the bad choices humanity as a collective has made and try to suggest room for improvement. This enables children, the youth and families worldwide, to blossom.
Below is useful advice to children, the youth, young professionals to be, mature students and parents worldwide, to wish a successful academic year to ALL.
The future looks bleak for the youth, mature students, young professionals to be and parents worldwide. After being popularised by some politicians, most content creators are in total disarray as they struggle to make ends meet out of social media content as Artificial Intelligence content gains popularity.
Everything is not lost even if the mark schemes for oral and written fluency get tougher and graduating with outstanding results and employability still looks like a mirage for many.

Our editorial strongly advises the youth, mature students and parents not to give up: nothing great in life comes easy.
In a time of deep recession, and political turmoil, achieving outstanding grades is vital to face the harsh realities of the employment market.
The youth is believed to be the cornerstone of any nation, ensuring the perennity of humanity. The youth as a collective need full support to fuel their personal success.
Our editorial advice on Basic Needs
Housing standards and location:

One day some of the youth think they may strip to get views and likes on social media to monetise their page, another day they realise all of a sudden, when it is almost too late, that it was a parody: The youth have never been told that one must be trained from the likes of CentraleSupélec to appear desirable and charming on the employment market.
A beautiful flat, apartment, home close to school and or University affects academic performance.
Our editorial is aware that the current recession, US Tariffs, migration influx has for ever changed the way we perceive life and how we adapt regarding our geographical location.
Migration influx, the housing market and other… put unprecedented brutal pressure and stress on families, forced to seek and upgrade their preservation instincts, to keep up and secure a shelter for their children.
Migration influx is described by the economic online dictionary as (a large and often sudden arrival of people into a specific region or country, usually driven by factors such as: economic opportunity, conflict, or persecution).
Considering that pursuing studies, a career is a high speed race as almost every child is gifted in their own way, but most of them have limited opportunities to thrive.
Strategically, securing a beautiful flat, an apartment or a house near your child or children’s school, training school for athletes, opera dancer, (whatever their passion and gift), already puts your children in pole position: 20 steps ahead of their peers.
It is a nightmare for the youth to travel 3 hours every day to get to school or university or to get stuck due to traffic, rush hour, strikes…
The youth get tired and unable to meet exams deadlines, let alone achieve good grades for their white papers if they travel lengthy miles daily.

Our editorial is fully aware that it takes guts, dedication, a draconian discipline and hard work to go to school, to university, to train as a professional athlete, actor, beautician, barber, song writer, entrepreneur , comedian , chef…

Healthy food improves academic performance
Food is a crucial part in a person’s life. It nourishes, boosts energy, and supports their overall health.
According to researchers, eating a healthy and nutritious meal significantly improves mental health, enhances cognitive skills such as concentration and excellent memory.
It is crucial for parents to invest a serious part of their income in nutritious and delicious food: in order to enjoy learning, children must have a balanced diet, good breakfast, a great lunch, their favourite snack, and a great dinner.
Physical exercise enhances the cognitive.
In youth and adulthood: Medical studies have shown “how exercising improves cognitive function, including memory, attention, and executive abilities. Exercise has also been linked to a lower incidence of cognitive deterioration and neurodegenerative illnesses.”
Extracurricular activities (at least one) in case of a tight budget –
Jogging, tennis, netball, swimming, LEGO building blocks…
It has been medically proven that extracurricular activities enhance academic performance. Research has shown that “students involved in extracurriculars tend to have better grades and higher levels of academic engagement. Why? The time-management skills, focus, and commitment learned through extracurricular activities often translate to improved academic habits.”

If humanity remains at the heart of The Bridge Magazine’s editorial, it also means that we are aware Mankind is not perfect. Great and strict sleeping schedules – children are predisposed to be smarter.
Scientists say a strict bedtime routine affects your child’s brain development –making them more intelligent.
As a parent, you must ensure your child does not spend their whole night scrolling through their phone and interacting with friends on social media. Even the smartest child in the world cannot focus at school the day after if they spent 8 hours on their phone, the night before.
Advice to the youth
Typical case scenarios could be the following.
First case scenario: in some situations, you need to pause and ‘read the room’.
As a young and bright student from an ethnic background, you have successfully achieved an overall pass in both your written and oral exams, to train at CentraleSuperlec engineering school for the 2025 Academic Year.

Everything is not lost even if the mark schemes for oral and written fluency get tougher and graduating with outstanding results and employability still looks like a mirage for many.

You are not reading the room if:
As a non-Caucasian young foreign male student of a low income family background, you were spotted on Nationwide /International News TV and or on social media leading one of the headquarters of the 200,000 protesters French Riots who took the streets in ‘Block Everything’ protest in France on 10th September 2025.
If you were spotted among those leading that type of protest, you might get lucky to get away with it but, chances are that you might also get fined and expelled from CentraleSuperlect.
Reading the room here means being aware that although your parents were struggling to make ends meet, they have still managed to secure a student visa for you. Let alone a family loan back home to cover all your needs during your studies: your family wanted you to go out there and later succeed as a person.
To join the statistics and proudly represent not only the youth of your generation who have done well, but also your family, your country of origin and yourself but you then went and ruined it all in the blink of an eye.
Second case scenario: in some situations, you need to pause and ‘spot the difference’.
As a young bright caucasian or student of an ethnic background from a low-income family you successfully get into one of the top 3 world leading institutions for your studies.
What a great opportunity to mingle with the ultra-rich classmates!
There is nothing wrong with hanging around with ultra-rich classmates, if you are lucky enough to attend the same school, high school, colleges or university…
But as a low income student you must spot the difference:

Do not copy bad manners from ultra rich kids. It is not about being bitter jealous about the ultra-rich backgrounds and upbringing. There will always be someone wealthier than you.
But it is down to you and you only to understand that the connections rich kids have will benefit them not you.
Although you have been given the opportunity to attend the same institution based on academic merit, there is a humongous gap between you as a middle class student and a rich student which is both explicitly and implicitly practiced/performed in the scholar setting.
Most of the time you are all going to graduate but whether a student from a wealthy family graduates or not, they still have multibillions in their savings account…
Whether they decide to enter employment the first year they complete their degree or they decide to take three consecutive gap years to celebrate their success by travelling the world, they can still afford to do it.
But you CANNOT and that is where the difference lies.
The sooner you successfully complete your studies, land a great job and help yourself and ease the load of your parents and siblings, the better.
As a student, whether from a wealthy background or not:
Do not share hate speech or impersonate heroes on social media or at school or university.
Maybe you have a gift to become the next most talked about humanitarian/ political leader/ activist …of modern era, but that time has not come yet. Focus on your studies.
You CANNOT share posts or speeches calling out Head of Governments or leading political party riots as a disturbed political fanatic.
AS A REMINDER!!!
Even if you have been granted a foreign passport or citizenship, when something goes wrong, the first thing that will emerge if you make the headlines for the wrong reason (s), it will be your country of origin.
For that reason, be mindful, those who encourage you to lead riots will NEVER allow their friends, siblings, offspring to get involved in fights that are neither their areas of expertise nor their calibre.
Because what you may ignore is that wherever you travel in the world, disrespecting laws, flags, elections, institutions, police of your country of origin or even in the tinniest little country in the world, whether in size or power will bring you NOWHERE.

That criminal record follows you your entire life. Whether you are academically or professionally gifted or not.
Advice to parents:
Our editorial is aware that social media has made parenting more challenging than ever before. We do understand social media may also have an entertainment side and humans can mingle time to time.
But the more you learn how to support your children the better. It enables them to blossom physically, internally, emotionally, academically and professionally.
Draconian Discipline
As a parent, the following should be the norm: dropping off and collecting your children from school, attending school plays, the school parents evening, parents meeting.
DO NOT blackmail or threaten children on how much money you have already splashed on their studies, food, clothes, toys, holidays, extracurricular activities, expensive birthdays parties… and how they must not dare to fail an exam…
You may unknowingly destroy your children’s passion or gifts. Children deserve and expect unconditional love, affection, and dedication from their parents. They will feel it if it is genuine or not.
It is parenting – neither an exchange programme nor a deal.
Focus on the compliment when they do well in class, a drawing, etc thank them if they teach you something knew. Apologises if you hurt them. Respecting your children is not only the norm but is also boosts their confidence and the cognitive.
Be there, enjoy your parenthood: children are happier and blossom better when they are genuinely loved and supported.

Extracurricular activities (at least one) in case of a tight budget – Jogging, tennis, netball, swimming, LEGO building blocks…
It has been medically proven that extracurricular activities enhance academic performance. Research has shown that “students involved in extracurriculars tend to have better grades and higher levels of academic engagement. Why? According to Research, heavy social media use may be a risk factor for anxiety and depression in teenagers.
When children spend too much time on screens they skip a meal, thus meaning they have a disturbing meal, sleeping schedule, and homework patterns and unfortunately miss out on the quality time they are supposed to spend with friends and families.
No to mention the risk of triggering potential insecurities – body image, desirability, bullying, peer pressure, suicide and many more deep-rooted issues that teenagers face daily.
Parents must always assist and bond with their children whether it be academically or not.
Advice to young professionals to be
Be proud but not cocky, be kind! Unlike what you may have been led to believe, kindness is neither synonym of weakness nor fear.
Being genuinely kind is a sign of empathy (watch your language, be kind to others, because you never know what your friends are going through) unless someone is close to you, they will not share their life struggles with you. So, you do not want to be remembered as the mindless insensitive mean girl or mean boy of the high school or University who was a bully.
Do not be argumentative, do not fight: you might have been bright enough to be entitled to a scholarship. You cannot afford to miss a recommendation from a lecturer, a dean, a useful opportunity for your future employability.
As a young professional to be, you may come across manipulative university classmates willing to wind you up/ provoke you by saying mean things. You are no longer 3 years old to get away with a fight.
DO NOT give an excuse to bitter jealous or spiteful classmates looking for excuses to tarnish your CRB for ever.
Similar mean behaviour may also happen when you graduate and land a job.
The sooner you start getting accustomed on how to master your emotions namely remaining calm for example, during constant micro aggressive remarks on your appearance, cultural ignorance regarding stereotypes associated to your origin – the better. After your studies, when you land a job, getting aggressive at work with colleagues or your bosses will put an end to your dream career.
It will bring all the qualifications you have been proud of at square zero because you will be labelled as aggressive, unsocial, unemployable, moving forward.
All your qualifications and or special skills will be out of print, gone!

Our editorial is fully aware that it takes guts, dedication, a draconian discipline and handwork to go to school, to university, to train as a professional athlete, actor, beautician, barber, song writer, entrepreneur, comedian, chef…
To the youth worldwide, if your parents and or tutors can afford the luxury to support your studies, give it your best shot, make the most out of it. It takes all levels of qualifications and skills to build a world.
Hopefully, Governments worldwide will regulate the use of social media, release funds for companies, so the youth and parents who are willing to work whether with only a GCSE or a higher degree still find a job and earn a living. This will prevent manufacturing poverty in the next coming years.
The Bridge Magazine wishes A Happy Back to School to ALL and good luck with your academic/ professional year.

Dear ALL,
Back to school in the midst of a global economic crisis: the ongoing US tariffs turmoil remains ground breaking news as the teacher crisis impacts education worldwide! At a time where the world population is still unsure whether or not Artificial Intelligence (AI) was also created as a class war tactic to slowdown low-income families’ students who are getting intellectually smarter: At a time where ethics, integrity, and academic excellence go hand in hand, The Bridge Magazine provides useful advice to children, the youth, young professionals to be and parents- our editorial wishes a successful academic year to ALL.

“I was struck by your recent piece on trade, tariffs, and the hidden costs of human trafficking. You bring forward voices and truths that many would rather turn away from — and that makes your work both vital and lasting.
I’m building something…—
in a way that outlives the news cycle…— it’s about real voices being remembered.
Your work already embodies that spirit. If it resonates, I’d love to record a short session with you — a conversation that captures your perspective for the archive, alongside the journalism you’re already doing. We’re early in this project, so there’s no pressure and no fee barriers.
Would you be open to exploring that with me?
Warmly”
