According to The Economist’s Intelligence Unit, on June 13th 2020, in Rome- Italy, 56 countries (including 35 developing countries and 20 developed countries, and the European Community) signed International Treaty crucial to food security and sustainable development.
Emphasising by so doing why manipulating prices to make food unaffordable or inaccessible to low-income consumers or to civilians in war zones it is illegal and wrong.
Restricting the overall food supplies to create food shortage, raising and manipulating prices to make food unaffordable or inaccessible to low-income consumers in everyday life in general and to civilians in war zones in particular is a serious breach in humans rights and is a crime against humanity.
As human, having access to minimum food is a basic, absolute and fundamental Human Right. No one on earth should starve: The United Nations of Human Rights makes it unequivocal. Under the paragraph 1- of the Universal Declaration on the Eradication of Hunger and Malnutrition, it reads:
“Every man, woman and child has the inalienable right to be free from hunger and malnutrition in order to develop fully and maintain their physical and mental faculties”.

From an illegal migrant’s perspective
The world underground economy makes trillions on a regular basis generated by illegal workers. Behind the so called ‘squalid illegal immigrants’ overlooked making news headlines for the wrong reasons, most of the time, they get trafficked and enslaved in the sex industry, drugs rings, organs trafficking, forced and low paid labour the list goes on…

The often-untold story of the shadow economy is that these apparent pecuniary worth economic activities made illegal immigrants and even legal people lured, trapped and abused unfortunately often started with one trying to survive off an empty stomach back story.
Latest statistics show “the global shadow economy was estimated to generate more than $10 trillion worth of economic activity.”

In human history, starvation has been used and continues to be used to enslave and kill mankind. Famine has been used and continue to be used as: a means to control, a weapon in war, human trafficking, in sex trafficking, in organ trafficking, labour trafficking – the list goes on.
Hunger is the direct cause of many evils such as: violence, riots, crimes, drugs, human trafficking, sex trafficking, organ trafficking, depravation, physical and mental diseases. Starvation is a precursor sign of death.
President Trump’s trade war saga has resulted in bankruptcies and farm consolidation. American trade tariffs are having a severe impact on independent farmers and benefited corporations.
The global backlash to the Trump tariffs is punishing the world agriculture sector (the backbone of the world’s economy) with drastic decline in Chinese buying of U.S. farm products. This foreshadows a chronic global hunger at an unprecedented scale of our modern era that the world is about to witness.

On April 2025 New data from EUROSTAT indicates an increase of victims of trafficking in human beings in the EU: showing that 10 793 victims of human trafficking were registered and approximately 63% of registered human trafficking victims were women and girls.
From a military perspective
