Summer holidays in theory means a complete shutdown from everyday life hectic schedule and routine: a total reset to recharge batteries, but does Mankind’s brain ever really switch off?

From forest fires to shutting down compagnies and businesses following Middle Eastern wars…

Investors withdrawing their funds or restraining from investing worldwide or following stories or crimes never to be told, the world has never experienced such a brutal summer before.

Most adults and parents’ brains are experiencing a “functional shutdown” as global food and water shortages driven by extreme weather continue to creep.

What if holiday activities and travelling were the response to cope?

At a time where even the middle class are struggling to make ends meet whilst some of the ELITE have lost their lands and homes due to wild fires.

Medical and neuroscientific research shows that “Holidays and travel reduce stress hormones like cortisol, promote neuroplasticity through novel experiences, and lower long-term risks of cognitive decline. Stepping away from daily routines allows the brain to repair, reset, and restore optimal cognitive function”.

According to medical studies: the human brain freezes in response to severe stress, trauma, or overload, making it feel blank, numb, or unable to process thoughts.

It is believed a human brain cannot completely turn off or shut down while alive, because it must keep vital life functions like breathing and heart rate running.

But to avoid a complete and unhealthy or pathological blackout and burnout, humans MUST use their break in a meaningful way no matter how harsh they have been knocked down by the harsh realities of life.

Human life is not always smooth sailing. However, find below how holiday activities can heal your family and or yourself from major setbacks

Holiday activities include outdoor adventures such as swimming, sightseeing, indoor activities include games, crafts, reading, movie nights…

It has been scientifically proven that outdoor activities improve humans’ overall health by lowering stress, boosting immunity, and sharpening their focus.

Natural environments also enhance heart health, regulate sleep cycles, brighten your mood, and encourage physical movement, leading to overall mental and physical well-being.

Exploring nature by visiting places, parks, having a family picnic as well as sightseeing – wildlife watch – listening to sounds (waterfalls, bird tweets …) forces the brain out of autopilot and builds fresh neutral connections.

Activities such as swimming at a beach, lake, or municipal pool boosts dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins to enhance one’s mood.

Find below Health benefits of Indoor and Budget-Friendly holiday activities

Provide babies with a space to explore:

For babies, indoor play can offer easy opportunities to crawl, step, reach, climb gently and explore textures or spaces.

Provide school-age children fun activities away from screens

Provide your family with a practical harsh weather day activity.

Heat waves, wet, flooding or unpredictable weather can make outdoor plans impossible.

Indoor play becomes a practical harsh weather day option where children can still move, play and enjoy active time.

Visiting libraries to borrow books, audiobooks (as part of learning leisure, or DVDs enables you to bring entertainment home). This enables Cognitive Reset.

Scientists believe unstructured off-task time gives your brain’s default mode network a chance to recover and restore focus.

Get involved in Creative arts & crafts projects such as drawing, painting, baking, or cooking.

Choosing the summer holidays to accompany family for future career path projects or to celebrate a milestone in one’s career could be an amazing experience.

If you can afford financially, physically, and emotionally to accompany your children to settle in their career abroad, just grab the summer break to do so.

DO NOT think financial support from afar only, will act as a magic wand and successfully make your children settle comfortably in their new roles firms/ compagnies, new letting agents/landlords…

New neighbours, new friends, new places and new colleagues/ bosses. With no disrespect for parents who choose that option, our editorial finds it very naïve!

Young adults are not a parcel that only needs to be shipped for parents and or tutors to use a remote control from afar helping them to embrace and navigate such crucial phases of their life.

Parents traveling alongside their children to support them as they transition into their young professional lives is no longer ground breaking news: it has become a growing trend known as either “career shadowing," or "co-living". The Bridge MAG. Image

The sad reality is that some companies  are incapable of financially rewarding young professionals in alignment to the level of academic merit that they have achieved.

Extensive and tough academic curriculums barely give them the opportunity let alone time to learn everyday:

Life/hardships/obstacles, the school of life or everyday life realities some of which even grown and mature adults still fail to grasp.

The world is still full of people with a beautiful soul (luckily). But chances are your children might have bad encounters (IT DOES NOT only happen online, in movies or on depressing TV news).

As a parent, your brain MUST work 24/7. Read the room and remain woke. You DO NOT want to fall into the category of those who have sent their young adults away to pursue a career but then experience the misfortune of welcoming them in a sealed coffin.

As a reminder, no matter how forward a young adult physically looks, sharing working spaces/ offices with colleagues over three decades their age, and forty decades professionally more experienced than them can be daunting and overwhelming. The Bridge MAG. Image

And then in a turn of events, be wrongly accused of either being responsible for their own loved ones misfortune, or of struggling with trauma as they mourn not being able to recognise or identify their children’s corpses.

Parents travelling alongside their children to support them as they transition into their young professional lives is no longer ground breaking news: it has become a growing trend known as either “career shadowing,” or “co-living”.

The aforementioned dynamic enables parents to offer emotional stability, financial relief, and practical mentorship during a high-stress life turning point.

Wrongly perceived as over-parenting for some, parental “career shadowing,” is of paramount importance.

Below are things many parents worldwide have been doing from generation to generation to enable their young adults to successfully overcome harsh realities in the early years of their careers:

Train your young adult children on how to deal with abusive colleagues, or microaggressions from Human Resources (HR).

Train them on how to overlook microaggressions, or open discrimination at work or in everyday life.

Train them on how to collaborate with people from all walks of life and deal with people of huge age gaps without sounding neither condescending,  rude, cocky, nor micro aggressive themselves.

Train them on the complex world of WORKPLACE POLITICS – how to focus on their actual job spec at work when they have the golden opportunity to land a role, rather than gossiping about their colleagues and people’s personal lives, the list goes on…

Before one may think they can be a part time parent and constantly indulge in fun, the reality makes naïve parents dreams fall short.

In real life, supporting children entering their young adulthood to shaping their future career is a herculean task.

Parents MUST be their young adult children’s role models without being excessive.

Being an emotional anchor for them at the early stage of their career should be the norm.

It enables you to provide them with the right amount of support to balance the brutal hiatus isolation and burnout they often encounter when they first embrace the working world.

The youth and parents who have misread the working world and University setting or family nest have learnt it the hardest way.

The Bridge MAG. 🌍 🗞️ Appreciation
This season, as a sign of gratitude, below are few readers’ comments worldwide. picked at random from the dashboard
From Tibet to Australia, via America to Brazil/Venezuela … thank you once again for commenting on my articles and for being part of my success.

“I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be much more useful than ever before.”

“I was struck by your recent piece on trade, tariffs, and the hidden costs of human trafficking. You bring forward voices and truths that many would rather turn away from — and that makes your work both vital and lasting.
I’m building something…— in a way that outlives the news cycle…— it’s about real voices being remembered.

Your work already embodies that spirit. If it resonates, I’d love to record a short session with you — a conversation that captures your perspective for the archive, alongside the journalism you’re already doing. We’re early in this project, so there’s no pressure and no fee barriers.
Would you be open to exploring that with me?
    Warmly”

“Your blog is a treasure chest of wisdom. Regards”

“What an incredible read! Your insightful analysis and thorough research have created a truly compelling article. I am thoroughly impressed by the depth and breadth of your expertise. This is exactly the kind of high-quality content that keeps me coming back for more. Sincerely”

“This article is absolutely phenomenal. The depth of your research and the clarity of your writing are impressive. You’ve managed to convey complex information in a clear and engaging way. I’m thoroughly impressed by this standout piece. Best wishes”

“Your content is always exceptional. This article was particularly enlightening. Brilliant post! Your writing is very impactful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
    Best wishes”
